john1028As far as the battery itself, it's great! There are plenty of glowing reviews here and on Youtube. I paired mine with a WindyNation 100w flexible solar panel. Very light and much cheaper than what Goal Zero sells. Taped it on top of my canopy tent. You just need to buy the Goal Zero MC4 adapter to get it working. Would recommend an extension cable too if your panel will be far from your Yeti.Yes
Ron G.The absolute best solar generator, can't imagine camping without it. I have 3 Yeti 400s in my camper with over 400 watts of solar panels and I receive over 3000 watts of free electricity from God each day! Praise the Lord!Yes
David Z.Battery, inverter, various outlets, amp meter, volt meter, regulating various input sources. Trying to piece tougher a compatible solar system that can be charged from multiple sources and power items with various 12-volt attachments can be a wiring mess and complex to figure out, especially for relatively minor electric needs. Yes

Brian J. LowryWe have had ours for years now, bought when they were just a Kickstarter startup. Has never let us down, and carried us through a seven day power outage after a rare tropical storm hit our part of Eastern Canada in 2014. We've since bought a generator for use in winter storms, but we had our Forty2 out charging just last week, still our go-to power source for minor power outages (all hours) and sunny day trips. It is very heavy, but not really worse than a large, heavy suitcase, and easily sturdy enough that it's never cumbersome. Imagine someday the batteries will fade, but no sign of that yet.Yes

Dazy MazyI purchased the RIVER Power Station for power outages at home. I live in a heavily-wooded area and it's not uncommon for the power to go out during storms. I specifically bought it to keep my cable modem and wireless router powered during outages. I haven't fully tested it yet, but I'm estimating approximately 30 hours of power for internet use. Of course, it will be less than that if I also charge my other devices, but I have a 400W inverter for my car that I usually use for those.

I'm very happy with it, so far. I have it next to my recliner and leave it plugged into the wall so I can use it as a charging station for all my devices.

Shortly after receiving the RIVER Power Station, I sent an email to the manufacturer with some questions I had. Below is a copy of the email and the replies from EcoFlow Technology.

EMAIL SENT:
I recently purchased and received the RIVER Power Station from Amazon, for use during power outages at home. I've read through the Customer questions & answers section of the product page and found some conflicting answers. I would really appreciate it if you could answer the questions listed below. And, unless you object, I'd like to include your responses in my Amazon review when I write it.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your reply.

Q1: Does the RIVER Power Station's lithium battery need to be "conditioned" by multiple full discharge/full recharge cycles?
Q2: Can I use a surge strip(s) in the AC output port(s) for multiple devices, as long as the wattage use stays below 300 watts?
Q3: Does the RIVER Power Station have its own surge protection while being charged directly through AC wall socket?
Q4: Besides an input range of 10V-22V and a 6.0mm DC cable adapter for the RIVER input port, what other specifications are there for using a third-party 100W solar panel?

ANSWERS:
Q1: When you take RIVER out of the package, its battery will be about 20% charged. For the best results, please charge RIVER to 100% when it arrives. There is no need to "condition" RIVER's battery by multiple full discharge / full recharge cycles.
Q2: Yes!
Q3: Yes!
Q4: That's it! To recharge RIVER with 3rd party solar panels, you will most likely need to find an adapter. You can also recharge RIVER with one EcoFlow 50W Solar Panel, or two EcoFlow 50W Solar Panels chained together.
Yes
NoelI purchased this primarily to use while camping to power my CPAP. While I could have run the CPAP off the AC power feed, I know that there is wasted power converting the stored battery energy to AC only to have the CPAP convert it back to DC. I bought a DC adapter and instead plugged the CPAP into the 12V car outlet. Usually when running off a battery it is recommended that one turns off the humidifier and heated hose. However I was able to run my CPAP (a ResMed AirSense 10) for 2 nights with the humidifier and heated hose running as normal. The River was down to about 8% capacity at that point, so I wouldn't get another night without charging it. Might invest in some solar panels if I go for longer camping trips.Yes
MarkThis is a perfect addition to any situation that needs clean, quiet, and safe power. Whether offshore, camping, overlanding, hunting, the Power Station with the solar charger is hard to beat. Will easily power my laptop, cellphone, sat phone, and hotspot through at least 3-4 cycles.Yes

BruceKYYeti 1250 is a great product for the alternative gas powered generators. It's quiet, sleek, and never needs fossil fuel. I have my yeti connected to three 100w solar panels. Max input to the 1250 is by the Anderson power poles that peak at 240w. The intent being to be able to fully charge the unit in a one day (5hr) cycle because obviously if there was a serious emergence situation I would want the full capabilities of this unit indefinatly as long as sun light could reach the panels. The unit is great for urban activities as well such as camping and tailgating. When tailgating I sat it on the back of the truck and secure it so it doesn't move and when we arrive just push the button to turn it on. The only two downfalls to this units perfection to me is the fact that the unit has these hard wheels similar in function to the wheels on a shopping cart. If I really had to use this unit in an outdoor environment with uneven terrain the wheels might be an issue or if the ground is wet. It would be nice if they provide an alternative for that. Also, isn't not that big of a deal but for the price your paying it would be great if the roll cart assembly was telescopic so in the event the unit needs to transported in something smaller like a passenger vehicle that your don't have to keep fumbleming around with thing and potentially lose it or damage it.Yes
Kathleen JaniszewskiThe Yeti 1250 was delivered on time and in perfect condition - however the outer boxes looked like someone had beat the crap out of them! I also purchased a total of 4 solar panels to chain together, and Yes
Texas BonesWOW! Amazing doesn't fully describe the benefits this unit has brought our remote cabin. We also purchased a back-up battery to double the capacity and will use solar panels to charge. Easy to use, easy to understand. A bit heavy but once you attach the hand trolley with wheels anyone can move from point A to B.Yes

Michael KingI bought this to run a CPAP on while remote camping in the Jeep. Tested my CPAP by plugging into the AC side, it ran for 3 full nights with 1/5 bars left, I didn't run it exhaustion. If run on DC, there is the possibility I could get 4 nights. The AC charger only puts out 4 amps, so it takes about 8 hours on house power to fully charge. It might fully charge faster on a 10 amp feed from auto 12v system. So far, so good. We shall see how it handles my 45qt 12v refrigerator.Yes

Brenda C.The first unit had a defective inverter when it arrived. The vendor promptly replaced the unit with one that worked and they didn't even need for me to ship the first unit back. That is amazing because the lithium, iron, phosphate battery alone has a significant salvage value. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again. Also, the MP500 is a wonderful portable power source.Yes

L. McNerneyThis is, to be blunt, an awesome system! It has everything built together using a logical design, yet it is easy to use. And the quality is easy to see and feel, with a case that is of high quality (not quite pelican case quality, but not so cheap that you feel it will fall apart). This is very susceptible to heat, so having an external solar array may be beneficial. I do not have one, but I have not had it overheat yet either (granted it is cold out currently).Yes
Daily RadI have been looking for a solar generator for camping and emergency situations. The Firefly was always on my radar but didn’t have a replaceable battery. The Phoenix does. It has a solid build and didn’t have any problem powering my VR gaming computer when we had a power outage. It also gives you multiple ways to charge it, which is convenient.Yes
organirricanPurchased this unit after hurricane Maria and it has been an immense help this past month. It's practically dummy proof, we power phones, tablets and can sleep at night with a fan (in the tropical heat). I am also able to run a load of laundry in a 170 watt portable washer!. It's also lightweight enough to take wherever I need to power something, so I don't worry about how to carry it up the stairs, so thumbs up. I also purchased the extra warranty but haven't heard anything from those guys after trying to contact them, so the jury is out on that part.Yes

mikefossPaired with two Nomad 20 panels and charged on sunny day quickly. Has multiple connections. Holds charge very well. DO get at least two Nomad 20 panels. Used only one at first and then got second for much faster recharge. Lost power during storm and Yeti used to recharge phones, portable Goal Zero lights. Next day quickly recharged with panels. Now a big fan of solar.Yes
MikedaveFirst, let me explain that I wanted something very simple, easy to setup and for the most part run my SnoMaster 12v fridge. I do a bit of wandering in my Jeep and I carry a fridge for the food and drinks. What I worry about is having the Jeep battery die way out in the bush, because it's a long walk home. Call it a trust issue, I even carry a Jump Pack for the Jeep. But this battery pack will run my fridge (5 watt draw) for about 3 nights before being drained. It takes about 16 hours to recharge it using the 12v connection in the Jeep while driving, but I also have a 60 watt solar panel which will charge it in about a day (6 to 10 hours). I recently went on a 6 day trip to Moab and it was awesome! Kept the fridge (and the food) cold and took up very little space. In fact, I would recommend buying two of these, less cost than the Yeti 400, and yet will do a lot, especially if you are traveling. Love this little powercell!Yes

Inputs to charge the unit are either Solar panels or can be plugged into a regular house power outlet. Catherine CodayI ordered this power station knowing it probably wouldn’t get to me until after Hurricane Florence had hit. This seller knew that too, so they took it upon themselves to send me a really nice, large battery pack charger at no cost to make sure I would have something before the storm to get me through. Who does that?
I never write reviews, but I just had to let others know what a wonderful kind gesture this seller did for me, a stranger, facing a hurricane. The power station came the following week after the storm as expected, but it was fine, because I had this battery backup (great product by the way) that kept my phones and tablets fully charged.
In a world of confusion and chaos, what an amazing act of kindness. I would buy anything from this seller!!!!
Yes
Alan_in_NCThis product works well, but there is a challenge for CPAP users that needs to be considered. The "passthrough" power on the 110v outlet is not actually passthrough. What this means is that the 3-hr cutoff time affects this outlet, as well, so if you intend to use this device as a UPS during storms while you sleep, you'll need to manually turn the device on each night. Also, f you are not running your humidifier, many CPAP machines do not consume 10+ watts of power - so the battery will turn off, and subsequently the CPAP machine will power off, every 3 hours all night long. The way around this is to have your humidifier running so that you draw more than 10 watts of power.Yes
MCMOK, so I'll admit that I'm a Jackery fan. I love their stuff. I travel with a Titan or Powerbar (depending on the trip) and they've treated me extremely well despite the abuse I put them through.Yes

Best Solar Generator Buying Guide

Getting the best solar generator requires a bit of an investment. Before you make the final decision, here are the factors you need to consider.

One, select the right solar panels. These panels convert the heat energy from the sun into electricity. Mono-crystalline (the most efficient), polycrystalline and thin film are the types of solar panels.

Two, battery capacity determines the maximum watts you can use from the generator. Don’t be fooled with the inverter capacity. An inverter capacity isn’t useful if a generator can’t use the inverter capacity to the fullest.

Three, portability equates to lightweight and easy transporting the generator. You can choose a heavy solar generator but make sure it has roller carts or wheels for transport.

Lastly, look at the extra features. Do you need many outlets? If you do, then, buy a solar generator that has ports as many as 10, by all means.

Extra features of the best solar generator may include LED display as consumption indicator or additional panels for power expansion. Whatever these extra features make sure they’re useful to you.
